Tree Trimmer / Street Maintenance

The Street Department is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual to join our team as a full time tree trimmer, primarily maintaining the City streets’ treescape, including tree trimming, viability evaluation and removal. The individual will also assist in a wide variety of seasonal street maintenance tasks.  The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, a motivation to serve others and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties/Skills/Responsibilities/Qualifications

  • Trims and removes trees and stumps, with experience in operating chain saws, pruners, stump grinders and other common equipment
  • Trims trees around power and utility lines
  • Gathers brush and disposes of it by operating a brush chipper
  • Assists in patching streets and does hand work in preparation for black topping
  • Assists in monthly brush/debris pick up and removal
  • Assists in operating leaf vacuums during fall leaf collection
  • Assists in curb work and sidewalk removal
  • Assists in cleaning and maintaining of catch basins
  • Plows snow, hauls snow and spreads salt
  • Performs daily equipment checks and preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment
  • Sweeps streets as required
  • Mows City-owned property as required
  • Paints city streets and parking areas as required
  • Occasionally operates various equipment in absence of regular operator or specific training assignment
  • Lifts 75-150 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Works safely in a team environment or independently
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)


  • $18 – $20 / hour depending upon experience
  • Vacation pay, holiday pay, sick pay, health insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and City-paid PERF annuity and retirement
