Part-Time Parking Enforcement

The Auburn Police Department (APD) is seeking a dedicated, hard-working and self-motivated individual for part-time parking enforcement. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills and a motivation to serve the citizens of Auburn.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Enforces two-hour parking ordinance
  • Professionally communicates in oral and written form with all members of law enforcement agencies, including courts
  • Attends and participates in all required meetings and department functions; attends all scheduled court hearings and special assignments; promotes and supports department organizational goals and missions
  • Maintains physical fitness, personal appearance and uniform in accordance with department policy
  • Maintains supply of all forms, reports and tickets needed to perform duties; ensures that personal as well as department equipment (radio, chalk stick) are kept in good working order; helps to maintain the cleanliness and organization of all work areas.
  • Routinely observes violations and issues citations
  • Observes and enforces City ordinance violations, including junk or abandoned vehicles, parking, high weeds, trash, noise, etc.; issues or delivers appropriate warning, citation or civil process
  • Maintains order and flow of pedestrian and vehicle traffic on a day-to-day basis
  • Interacts with other individuals under extreme conditions and situations; uses appropriate measures to calm situation
  • Renders first aid and or CPR to injured or ill persons; summons additional medical personnel and assistance when necessary; maintains required department emergency first aid supplies
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of events completed
  • Follows all City of Auburn and APD policies and procedures in addition to local, state and federal standards, regulations and safety rules
  • Attends all required department training and stays current with all city ordinance and department policies

Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Excellent and professional customer service
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record
  • No felony convictions
  • Proficiency reading/writing English language
  • Passing of all physical and mental pre-employment tests
  • Ability to work safely and cooperatively in team environment
  • $15 – $20 / hour depending upon experience
