Field Services Premise Technician

Auburn Essential Services is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual to join our team as a full time Field Services Premise Technician. This position primarily functions as a field premise technician, while secondarily providing administrative support to operational management and staff.  The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, a motivation to serve others, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Work Relationships

  • Installation of premise hardware and wiring, including ONTs, battery backups, NEMA enclosures, Ethernet cables, coax cables, routers, set-top boxes, etc.
  • Fiber service installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Entry level customer technical support
  • Care and maintenance of assigned vehicles, tools and equipment
  • After-hours phone support and/or service calls
  • Report directly to AES Premise Systems Manager and interact with AES outside plant, customer service and engineering teams


  • Basic skills in computers, networking, audio/video equipment helpful but not required
  • Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
  • Attention to detail, safety and quality workmanship
  • Self-starter who works well independently
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Preferred knowledge: Microsoft operating systems
  • Ability to quickly learn all aspects of AES service offerings, as well as the City’s internal communications networks
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to work in all types of weather
  • Ability to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, climb and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to drive, including a valid driver’s license
  • Experience is a plus, but we will train new talent


  • Vacation pay, holiday pay, sick pay, health insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and City-paid PERF annuity and retirement
  • $18 – $24 / hour depending upon experience
