Parks Department Modifies Programming Amidst COVID-19
Auburn Parks and Recreation has canceled all indoor programs and events through April 16 to take precautions against the spread of COVID-19. In the interim, the Parks Department plans to offer virtual programming that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home. More information about these programs will be release soon on the City of Auburn Facebook page.
“This decision not only ensures the safety of citizens and employees, but also allows the Parks Department to continue to bring the community engaging, family-friendly programming,” says Erin Ray, Program Director.
At this point, all outdoor programs and events will still be held as long as the maximum of 50 people attending is not exceeded—a recommendation set by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since this is an evolving situation, the Parks Department is closely monitoring CDC guidance and will adjust as necessary.
Additionally, the Rieke Park Lodge will not be available for rent through April 16. Members of the community who have reserved this facility during this specified time period have been contacted by the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department with further instructions. The Rieke Park Lodge is still available for rent after April 16, and interested parties may contact (260) 925-2997.
