Residential Building Permit

 

 

Prerequisites

  • Must own a Platted or Legal parcel.

  • Parcel must be in proper zoning district.

The Process             

1) Submit Application (To View and print - Acrobat Reader Required) to Department of Building, Planning & Development

 

2) Submit Survey/Drawing

  • Provide one complete set of plans & specifications

  • Provide dimensions of lot, structure, and set backs drawn to scale. Indicate all streets and alleys adjacent to property. Identify any easements on the property.

  • Provide legal description of property (Lot #, Block #, and Addition).

  • Drawn to scale

  • Accurately dimensioned

  • Identify use of each room

  • Provide door and window schedule

  • Indicate extent of electrical, plumbing and mechanical on a layout

  • Drawing of foundation must be submitted with plans

  • Provide two elevations of building, identifying exterior finishes, roofing material, and height of chimney

  • Approval from Zoning Administrator

  • Schedule for masonry construction must be submitted with plans.

3) Receive approval from Department

4) Receive Permit

5) Build Structure

6) Obtain Required Inspections during construction

7) Receive Certificate of Occupancy

8) Move in!!!

 

*Separate Electrical and Plumbing permits are required

*Separate Driveway Approach permits are required from Engineering Department

 

Fees

  • $.06/Sq Ft Gross Floor Area

  • $35 Minimum/$600 Maximum
