Parks & Rec Hosting Spring Break Activities in March

The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department is hosting several fun Spring Break activities for the entire family. The week kicks off with our annual Skating Party. Additionally, this year, we're offering three spring nature classes for youth and adults.


Parks & Rec Hosting 26th Annual Christmas Walk

The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department invites you to the 26th Annual Christmas Walk. The event will be held  December 2-4 and December 9-11 from 6-8 p.m. each evening. The Christmas Walk takes place in Eckhart Park (1500 S. Cedar Street) and is truly a “Winter Wonderland” for all to enjoy!


Auburn Chief of Police Martin D. McCoy is asking that citizens of the community take extra time, effort and precautions as it relates to their vehicles. Remove valuables from your vehicle, park close to your home or in a well-lit area, set your alarm system if available. Most importantly, he says, lock your vehicle. There have been several recent incidents of items stolen from cars, but only unlocked vehicles were targets. It is believed that a locked vehicle would deter many of these crimes.  


The Auburn Police Department will be issuing 2016 DeKalb County Free Fall Fair Resident Parking Permits during the week of September 19-23, 2016. Permits may be obtained at the Auburn Police Department, 210 South Cedar Street, from Monday through Friday, 10am – 4pm.


APD to Offer RAD Self Defense Classes This Fall

The Auburn Police Department will be offering a self-defense course for women this fall. The four-session course, which begins Oct. 20, teaches the RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) System of awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. Registration is required.

RAD is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics. RAD is not a martial arts class. Certified RAD instructors will teach the course.
