Home Checks

We offer home checks free of charge for citizens who are away from their homes for extended periods of time, such as vacations, part-time residency in other states or unforeseen circumstances that require you to be away. Officers check your house once a week in an effort to deter break-ins.

Requirements for Auburn Police Home Check

• You must be away from your residence five or more consecutive days.
• You do not have another person available to check your residence on a regular basis.
• The home is current residence. (We cannot provide security to abandoned or empty homes currently for sale or in foreclosure.)

Pathfinder Young Adult Program

Geared toward ages 16-20, the Pathfinder Program is a mentoring program for young adults residing in DeKalb County, including disadvantaged and at-risk youth. In addition to providing instruction and information on the field of law enforcement, Pathfinder emphasizes the importance of moral and ethical behavior, community involvement and personal responsibility—all with the overarching goal of equipping young adults with the life skills they need to successfully transition from high school into adulthood.

Participants work hand-in-hand with members of the Auburn Police Department, as well as other public servants, including local fire personnel, emergency medical technicians, and other members of related law enforcement agencies.

Reserves

Training the next generation of police officers is critical to the long-term vitality of our city. We have a strong police Reserves program for those interested in a career in law enforcement.

Police Reserve Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have no more than two moving violations in three years
• Must not have any felony convictions
• Must be able to complete the 40-hour pre-basic law enforcement academy course
• Must be able to read and write English
• Must pass pre-employment testing
