Auburn Water Department Will Be Flushing Fire Hydrants
The City of Auburn Water Department will be flushing all city-owned fire hydrants in cul-de-sacs and non-looped water mains beginning Mon. November 14th through Wednesday November 23th. Flushing will be done Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Flushing may stir up mineral deposits in the water main causing a discoloration of the water. This discoloration poses no threat to health and is safe to consume. If you notice discolored water in your home, run all cold water taps for 3-5 minutes or until the water clears before laundering whites.
Hydrant flushing keeps the water mains clean and ensures the greatest quality of water throughout the entire system. Flushing also helps to ensure the fire hydrants are working properly for fire protection purposes.
