Full-time Sewer Maintenance Technician

The Department of Water Pollution Control is seeking a fulltime Sewer Maintenance Technician/Trainee. This employee reports directly to and assists the Sewer Maintenance Supervisor. This position is responsible for basic duties related to the sanitary and storm sewer collection system, including the operation and maintenance of equipment for cleaning, renovation and improvements to collection system and appurtenances. 

Qualifications

  • Possesses a high school diploma or GED
  • Possesses a valid Class B Indiana Commercial Driver’s License, or has the ability to obtain a Class B Indiana Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet essential cognitive, psychological, physical and environmental requirements

Responsibilities

  • Locates, inspects connections, and investigates sewers
  • Clean sewers with vacuum; televises sewer with camera equipment
  • Rehabilitates or replaced manholes and catch basins
  • Performs flow checks of gravity sewers
  • Performs grease trap inspections
  • Cleans equipment weekly
  • Occasionally maintains sewer easements
  • Operated a variety of equipment, including vacuum and camera trucks

Full-time, non-exempt with benefits; some nights and weekends required

Salary
$12 - $22 / hour depending upon experience
