Auburn Essential Services

Born out of desire to fulfill the needs of one business, AES has become an asset to numerous businesses in Auburn—not to mention a point of distinction for new technology-centric businesses seeking to locate in this region of the country.

With close proximity to Internet 2 – one of the country's eight major fiber optic cable spines – as well as our smart grid technology and position as the county seat of DeKalb County, Auburn is prime for a technology solution like AES.

Demand and reliance on Internet access and converged telecommunication services have grown exponentially in recent years. Superior telecommunications services are an absolute requirement for businesses and communities competing in the global marketplace. With our proven track record in business telecommunications, e-government efficiencies and broad county-wide coordination, AES is an invaluable resource to a community focused on future growth. In fact, as a community owned and operated entity, everything we do to make AES successful is in service to the businesses and people of Auburn.

AES. Auburn's conduit for community progress.

Who We Are

AES is a community owned and operated network that offers Internet, television, point-to-point (private) data, voice, and data center co-location services to businesses and residential neighborhoods in Auburn.

AES and its fiber-based infrastructure enable many progressive services to our community—ultimately improving the economic development and quality of life in Auburn.

Since 1985, the City has used optical fiber to provide high-speed communications and manage the electrical grid of our service territory. In 1998, Auburn developed and implemented a Municipal Area Broadband Network, which tied over 28 government facilities together on a common platform to share voice, data and software in a collaborative manner. Then in 2005, AES began offering high speed, high demand Internet, point-to-point and colocation services to area businesses. Today, AES also offers television as part of its service line.

Our reach – along with our product offerings – continue to grow as we bring more businesses and residents online. View our Project Status Update for information on our phases of rollout and implementation.
