The Bio-Solids Division of Water Pollution Control houses perhaps the fastest growing program of the department.  As of July 1999, the WPC Dept. began using a fairly new technology called N-Viro Soil™  to recycle, and reuse, the sludge by-product generated at the treatment facility.  The addition of the N-Viro Soil™  process at the treatment plant has allowed us to discontinue a costly and time consuming land application program.  N-Viro International Corporation's patented pasteurization technology recycles wastewater sludge and other waste streams rich in organic matter into a safe, valuable product that can be beneficially reused.  That product, N-Viro Soil™, is a granular, soil-like product that has excellent appearance, physical and biological characteristics.  The process yields a product that meets the U.S. EPA's "Exceptional Quality Sludge" criteria, achieving the highest level of pathogen kill, while maintaining valuable indigenous micro flora.
